Hanoi city Full Day Tour

Begin your full-day city tour of Hanoi with a stop at the Soviet-style Ba Dinh Square, where Ho Chi Minh read out the declaration of the nation’s independence in 1945.

Visit the museum dedicated to the life of Ho Chi Minh and continue on through his Mausoleum. Walk through the gardens of the Presidential Palace and stop to see Uncle Ho’s house. This is the humble dwelling that he built and where he lived for the last 10 years of his life.

See the 1 Pillar Pagoda and also the 900-year-old Temple of Literature, one of the few remnants of the original city. The Temple of Literature is the principal Vietnamese Confucian sanctuary and the historical center of learning. Take a break for lunch before the afternoon segment of your tour.

After lunch, you’ll visit Hoa Lo Prison, the highest security prison in Indochina during the French colonial period. It was later known as the Hanoi Hilton, where American pilots were incarcerated during the American War.

Visit Ngoc Son Temple before finishing the tour with a cyclo (rickshaw) ride through the Old Quarter, where each street was named after the trade or guild that occupied the area. See Hang Bac (Silver Street) and Hang Trong (Drum Skin Street). The trade spills onto the street and the atmosphere is lively and sociable.

End your day by attending a water puppet show, a typical art form unique to northern Vietnam. This tradition dates back over a thousand years.
